  • all-purpose flour

  • baking soda
    1/2 tsp
  • butter
    1/2 c
  • buttermilk
    1 c
  • cornmeal
    1 c
  • eggs

  • salt
    1/2 tsp
  • white sugar
    2 tbsp

  • 8 inch square pan
  • 10-11 inch cast iron skillet

    Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 8 inch square pan or a 10-11 inch cast iron skillet .

    Melt butter in something large enough to mix in. Remove from heat and stir in white sugar .

    Add eggs and beat until well blended.

    Combine buttermilk with baking soda and stir into wet mixture.

    Stir in cornmeal , all-purpose flour , and salt until well blended and few lumps remain. Pour batter into the prepared pan.

    Bake in the preheated oven for ⏱️ 30 minutes , or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
