1Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 8 inch square pan or a 10-11 inch cast iron skillet .

2Melt butter in something large enough to mix in. Remove from heat and stir in white sugar .butter: 1/2 c, white sugar: 2 tbsp

3Add eggs and beat until well blended.eggs: 2

4Combine buttermilk with baking soda and stir into wet mixture.buttermilk: 1 c, baking soda: 1/2 tsp
